Treasures of Mumbai

Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, is the vibrant capital of Maharashtra and the economic powerhouse of India. Renowned as the financial, commercial, and entertainment capital of the country, it is famously home to Bollywood—the world’s largest film industry. Often referred to as the “City of Dreams,” Mumbai is a fast-paced metropolis where history and modernity blend seamlessly.

Once a group of swampy islands, Mumbai’s transformation began in 1661 when the Portuguese gifted the land to the British as part of a royal dowry. By the mid-18th century, major infrastructure developments reshaped Mumbai into a prominent seaport and thriving city.

Today, Mumbai offers a fascinating mix of colonial architecture, bustling markets, religious shrines, and iconic landmarks such as the Gateway of India, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. Strolling through areas like Colaba and Churchgate reveals the city’s rich colonial past and vibrant present.

  • Explore Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Experience the vibrant spirit of Dharavi.
